{"id":1352,"date":"2017-01-17T14:02:48","date_gmt":"2017-01-17T18:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sunergoi.com\/?p=1352"},"modified":"2017-01-17T14:02:48","modified_gmt":"2017-01-17T18:02:48","slug":"where-your-treasure-is","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sunergoi.com\/?p=1352","title":{"rendered":"Where Your Treasure Is"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Institute of Faith, Work, and Economics has\u00a0posted a couple of pieces adapted from my booklet\u00a0<em>Wholehearted: A Biblical Look at the Greatest Commandment and Personal Wealth<\/em> (2016). \u00a0The first post explores<a href=\"https:\/\/tifwe.org\/wealth-as-a-divine-blessing\/\"> &#8220;Wealth as a Divine Blessing&#8221;<\/a> (taking seriously the doxological commitment that we praise the &#8220;God from whom all blessings flow&#8221;), a blessing that provides us the opportunity to extends ourselves into the world around us.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0second <a href=\"https:\/\/tifwe.org\/wealth-reveals-the-commitments-of-your-heart\/\">post<\/a>, I talk about how our outlook on personal wealth reveals more about us than we might realize.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>One of the <a href=\"https:\/\/tifwe.org\/wealth-as-a-divine-blessing\/\">gifts and challenges of wealth is seeing it as a divine blessing and not as a moral evil<\/a>. The belief that wealth <em>is<\/em> a moral evil is usually supported by passages of Scripture cited as proof that the Bible opposes the accrual of wealth.<\/p>\n<p>But these passages must be interpreted in light of the <a href=\"https:\/\/tifwe.org\/wealth-as-a-divine-blessing\/\">passages discussed last week<\/a>, passages celebrating wealth of all types. When read in context, it becomes apparent that the passages are not undermining wealth <em>per se<\/em>.
